The 1954 redesign brought a one-piece curved windscreen, the crossbar grille known as the bull nose and round tail lights; the 1955 First Series replaced the enclosed torque tube with an open driveshaft. The 3100 name, for the half-ton model, replaced the Thriftmaster badging from late 1949.
The Advance Design ran from June 1947 to 25 March 1955, when the Task Force trucks replaced it, and was built in nine US plants.
