01
One automotive continent, several national markets
Italy embodies passion and design. Germany stands for performance and precision. The United Kingdom cultivates its own idea of elegance and sportiness. Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, McLaren, Bugatti, Pagani, Koenigsegg and many historic manufacturers were born or grew up in Europe. Yet buying a prestige car at European scale remains surprisingly complicated.
The problem is not a lack of cars; it is the fragmentation of the market. A Ferrari available in Germany can interest a French buyer. A Porsche offered in the Netherlands can match exactly what a Spanish enthusiast is searching for. In theory these cars belong to the same European market. In practice they still live in separate worlds: each country has its own platforms, dealers, commercial habits, language, tax rules and way of presenting vehicles.
02
Language is more than translation
Translating a description helps a buyer understand the equipment or the dealer's comments. It does not necessarily explain the real conditions of the sale. The vocabulary used for VAT, export prices, warranties or first registration varies between countries, and two listings can present the same facts in completely different ways: one shows the price including VAT first, another leads with the net price, a third quotes a net export price without explaining who can benefit from it.
LUSSO's role is to let every user consult vehicles in a structure of information that stays identical whatever the origin of the listing.
03
The displayed price is not always the real price
A car offered at 180,000 euros in Germany will not necessarily cost 180,000 euros to a French, Dutch, Portuguese or Danish buyer. The final cost can depend on the VAT treatment, the destination country, the first registration date, the new or used status, CO2 emissions, weight, fiscal horsepower, the vehicle's origin, transport, administrative formalities and registration costs.
These parameters can change the final cost by a few thousand euros, and sometimes by tens of thousands. An apparently cheaper car can become far more expensive once delivered and registered; a listing that looks more expensive can be the better opportunity. As long as that information stays scattered or unclear, buyers compare prices that do not describe the same economic reality. LUSSO's ambition is to make that comparison more honest and more useful.
04
The United Kingdom, almost a market of its own
The United Kingdom has an exceptional market, a strong car culture and an important inventory of prestige, sports and collector cars. It is also set apart by right-hand drive, prices in pounds sterling, the consequences of Brexit, specific customs formalities and different registration rules. A car offered in the UK can look particularly attractive, but its displayed price does not say what it will cost once imported and registered in the European Union. LUSSO's role is to make those differences visible immediately, rather than letting the buyer discover them after contacting the seller.
05
LUSSO does not only centralise listings
Gathering European listings on an attractive site is not enough, and the large generalist platforms already count vehicles by the hundreds of thousands. The goal is not to hold the biggest catalogue in Europe. It is to offer the clearest, most coherent and most useful catalogue for buyers of prestige, sports, GT, supercar and collector cars.
Each listing should let the buyer clearly identify the price and its tax context, the currency, the country and location of the vehicle, its first registration and mileage, its availability, its technical characteristics, its main equipment and the identity of the dealer offering it. The objective is not only to show that a car exists, but to let the buyer determine quickly whether it can really suit them.
06
Verified dealers
In the high end of the market, trust matters as much as inventory. LUSSO works with professional dealers whose identity and business activity are verified before they join the platform. This verification does not mean that LUSSO physically inspects every vehicle or guarantees every transaction; such a promise would be misleading. It means the buyer knows who offers the car, where it is located and who is responsible for the information published.
07
Normalised automotive data
European fragmentation also concerns how vehicles are described. The same option can carry several names. Power can be expressed in horsepower, PS or kilowatts. A date can mean the production year, the model year or the first registration. A price can include or exclude VAT without the difference being visible. LUSSO transforms this heterogeneous data into one common structure, so vehicles can be filtered precisely and genuinely compared. For a demanding buyer, the difference is often in the details: bucket seats, a sports exhaust, a carbon pack, the service history or the original configuration. The more structured the data, the better LUSSO can help find not just the right model, but the right example.
08
From search to cross-border acquisition
In its first phase, LUSSO makes it easier to discover, understand and compare the vehicles available from European dealers. The vision goes further: in time, a buyer will be able to select their country of residence and obtain an estimate of the total cost of the car delivered and registered at home, integrating transport, VAT, applicable duties, emissions and weight taxes and registration fees. In a second phase, partnerships can complete the experience: financing, insurance, secure transport, independent inspection, administrative support and registration.
The fragmentation of the European market is both the barrier and the opportunity. If the problem were only to create an elegant catalogue in English, the existing platforms would already have solved it. The more LUSSO understands the differences between European markets, the more useful the platform becomes.
LUSSO gathers the finest cars available from verified European dealers and makes it possible to search them, compare them and better understand their real cost in your own country.
