1978 Kawasaki KZ650 B1 for Sale in the Netherlands

This 1978 Kawasaki KZ650 B1 is a used car showing 190 km. It is equipped with a manual transmission. The car is finished in Candy Emerald Green.

Not a later KZ650 but an early B1, the North American version of the European Z650, and its frame number shows it was the tenth machine built. It lived in California for its entire life, in the care of one owner, and it still carries the blue California plate it wore there.

The bike has barely been ridden since it was sold new. Its paint, its decals and its paperwork are all as delivered, and the sale includes the first American registration document together with the owner's booklet. Gallery Aaldering describes it as untouched and preserved rather than restored, a genuine time capsule of late-1970s Japanese engineering.

The car is located in Brummen, Netherlands.

The Kawasaki Z650 uses the 652 cc air-cooled four-stroke inline-four, twin overhead camshafts and two valves per cylinder, mounted across the frame, rated at 66 PS (49 kW), with a five-speed gearbox and chain final drive. A double-cradle frame carries a 36 mm telescopic fork and twin rear shocks; the first series had a single front disc and a rear drum. Ben Inamura led the project and designed the engine, derived from the 900 but with a plain-bearing crankshaft.

FAQ

This Kawasaki KZ650 in the European market

Is this Kawasaki priced above or below the European market?

At €19,500, it sits above the median of €17,500 for the 6 Kawasaki advertised in Europe in 2026. 67% of them are advertised for less. Asking prices are not transaction prices, and specification differences explain much of the spread.

Can this Kawasaki be bought in the Netherlands and registered elsewhere in Europe?

The car is located in Brummen, Netherlands. The dealer quotes it as: VAT included and not reclaimable: sold under the margin scheme. Cross-border purchase is normal for this kind of car, but the documentation, the certificate of conformity, transport and the registration rules of the destination country all have to be settled with the selling dealer first.

How much did this Kawasaki KZ650 cost new?

The manufacturer's base list price was €1,636 in Italy, excluding options. This car is advertised at €19,500, 1092% above that figure. A list price is the launch price of the version without options, so a heavily specified car left the factory above it, and it says nothing about what the car is worth today. That 1977 list price is converted to euros with no adjustment for inflation.

How does the mileage of this Kawasaki compare?

190 km recorded, against a median of 3,790 km across the Kawasaki advertised in Europe in 2026. It is therefore among the lower-mileage cars currently listed. Service records and ownership details should be checked against the documents held by the selling dealer.

Which other Kawasaki are priced closest to this one?

a 1974 car in the Netherlands at €17,500, and a 1971 car in the Netherlands at €17,500. Observed in 2026. Comparing them means putting model year, mileage, factory options and the VAT basis side by side before the price itself.

Who is selling this Kawasaki KZ650, and how does a purchase work?

Gallery Aaldering, a professional dealer in Brummen, Netherlands. LUSSO lists the car and passes enquiries to that dealer; the inspection, the negotiation, the invoice and the transfer of ownership all take place directly between the buyer and the dealer. LUSSO does not hold stock, take deposits or act as an intermediary in payment.

Can this Kawasaki KZ650 be inspected before purchase?

The car is at Brummen, Netherlands, and an inspection is arranged with the selling dealer. Buyers based in another country commonly appoint an independent inspector or a marque specialist rather than travel. Ask the dealer for the service record, the number of previous owners and any accident history, with supporting documents for the information stated in the listing.
