2002 Ducati 998 RS for Sale in the United Kingdom

This 2002 Ducati 998 RS is a used motorcycle. It is equipped with a manual transmission. It is finished in Red MonsterMob livery.

Ducati Corse built this 998RS, frame VS5801, and Steve Hislop rode it through the whole 2002 British Superbike season for the MonsterMob Ducati team run by Paul Bird Motorsport, taking the title with eight wins, ten poles and thirteen fastest laps. In qualifying at Donington Park for the last round he set a lap record of 1 min 31.457 s, quicker than the MotoGP pole there that year.

The bike then stood in the team's offices for twelve years before joining a Ducati collection. Its engine has since been rebuilt, and it has been recommissioned for parade laps.

The motorcycle is located in Oxford, United Kingdom.

The Ducati 998 RS uses the 999 cc Testastretta 90-degree L-twin, liquid-cooled, with desmodromic valve gear, four valves per cylinder and a 104.0 by 58.8 mm bore and stroke, with a six-speed gearbox and chain final drive. Like the road 998, it uses a tubular steel trellis frame and a single-sided swingarm. The engine is close to the one in the 998 R, the homologation model of 2002 built with its own crankcases and a deep sump.

FAQ

This Ducati 998 RS in the European market

Is this Ducati priced above or below the European market?

At £180,000, about €209,986, it sits above the median of €47,227 for the 14 Ducati advertised in Europe in 2026. 93% of them are advertised for less. Asking prices are not transaction prices, and specification differences explain much of the spread.

Can this Ducati be bought in the United Kingdom and registered elsewhere in Europe?

The car is located in Oxford, United Kingdom. The dealer quotes it as: Like the road 998, it uses a tubular steel trellis frame and a single-sided swingarm. Cross-border purchase is normal for this kind of car, but the documentation, the certificate of conformity, transport and the registration rules of the destination country all have to be settled with the selling dealer first.

Which other Ducati are priced closest to this one?

a 2021 car in Sweden at €80,000, and a car in Germany at €79,000. Observed in 2026. Comparing them means putting model year, mileage, factory options and the VAT basis side by side before the price itself.

Who is selling this Ducati 998 RS, and how does a purchase work?

Girardo & Co., a professional dealer in Oxford, United Kingdom. LUSSO lists the car and passes enquiries to that dealer; the inspection, the negotiation, the invoice and the transfer of ownership all take place directly between the buyer and the dealer. LUSSO does not hold stock, take deposits or act as an intermediary in payment.

Can this Ducati 998 RS be inspected before purchase?

The car is at Oxford, United Kingdom, and an inspection is arranged with the selling dealer. Buyers based in another country commonly appoint an independent inspector or a marque specialist rather than travel. Ask the dealer for the service record, the number of previous owners and any accident history, with supporting documents for the information stated in the listing.

Is this Ducati 998 RS still available?

LUSSO republishes what the selling dealer advertises, and a car in demand is sometimes reserved or sold before the dealer updates its own site. Confirm current availability with Girardo & Co. before travelling or committing funds. An enquiry sent from this page reaches that dealer directly.

What is needed to register this car if it does not stay in the United Kingdom?

A cross-border registration normally requires the vehicle registration document, the certificate of conformity or an equivalent type-approval record, the purchase invoice showing the VAT treatment, and proof that any tax due in the destination country has been settled. Temporary export plates and transport insurance are arranged either by the dealer or by the buyer. Requirements differ by country and should be confirmed with the selling dealer before payment.
