The C8 is the first Corvette with its engine ahead of the rear axle. Its body structure is mostly aluminium, riveted and bolted rather than welded, with luggage compartments front and rear. The LT2 is a pushrod V8 with dry-sump lubrication and can shut down four cylinders at part load. European cars carry a particulate filter, which lowers the output.

Chevrolet builds the Corvette at Bowling Green, Kentucky. C8 production began in February 2020, and European sales started in October 2021.
