McLaren built 500 cars named for Ayrton Senna on the Monocage III carbon tub, at 1,198 kg the lightest road McLaren since the F1; the active rear wing makes up to 800 kg of downforce and acts as an airbrake.

McLaren Automotive has built every road car on a carbon fibre tub since the MP4-12C of 2011, and splits its range into the Sports Series, the Super Series and the Ultimate Series. The LT badge, revived from the F1 GTR Longtail, marks the lightened and shorter-geared versions.
