Black Series is AMG's hardest specification: the rear seats go, the track is widened by seventy-five millimetres front and rear under bolted arches, the springs and dampers are adjustable, and the body panels are carbon fibre.

AMG built about 700 of them in 2007 and 2008 at Affalterbach. The M156 was the first engine AMG designed entirely on its own rather than reworking a Mercedes-Benz one, and this is the car that showed what it could do.
