About the Volkswagen Beetle

The one-piece oval rear window replaced the split window on 10 March 1953 and gave way to a larger rectangular one for 1958. The Export model added chrome bumpers, better trim and a richer interior over the plainer Standard.

Volkswagen built it at Wolfsburg, where the millionth Beetle was assembled in August 1955.
