1972 Nissan 240Z for Sale in the United Kingdom

This 1972 Nissan 240Z is a used car showing 21,887 km. The car is finished in Red with a Red interior.

Nissan made fifty duplicates of the Datsun 240Z chosen to pace the 1972 USAC California 500 at Ontario Motor Speedway, and the seller knows of no other survivor. Sold new by Gillian Datsun of Inglewood, California, it wore its OMS livery until the early 1980s, then Jaguar Burgundy until it was laid up in the mid-1980s.

Restoration began in 2007, when stripping revealed the original blue and white. The current owner bought it in 2018 through Motorcar Classics of New York, and The Z Farm finished a full rebuild late in 2019: engine overhauled, suspension and running gear improved, paint in Works Rally team colours, interior kept original. Three owners, UK registered, stored dry since, with one drive through southern France.

The car is located in London, United Kingdom.

The Datsun 240Z uses the L24 inline-six of 2.4 litres, with a cast-iron block, an alloy head and twin Hitachi SU-type carburettors, rated at 140 PS (103 kW) DIN, 0 to 97 km/h in 8.0 seconds and 201 km/h, with a four- or five-speed manual gearbox, or a three-speed automatic, with rear-wheel drive.

FAQ

This Nissan 240Z in the European market

Can this Nissan be bought in the United Kingdom and registered elsewhere in Europe?

The car is located in London, United Kingdom. The dealer has not stated whether the price is quoted gross, net of VAT for export, or under the margin scheme. Cross-border purchase is normal for this kind of car, but the documentation, the certificate of conformity, transport and the registration rules of the destination country all have to be settled with the selling dealer first.

How does the mileage of this Nissan compare?

21,887 km recorded, against a median of 33,444 km across the Nissan advertised in Europe in 2026. It is therefore among the lower-mileage cars currently listed. Service records and ownership details should be checked against the documents held by the selling dealer.

Who is selling this Nissan 240Z, and how does a purchase work?

BOB FORSTNER, a professional dealer in London, United Kingdom. LUSSO lists the car and passes enquiries to that dealer; the inspection, the negotiation, the invoice and the transfer of ownership all take place directly between the buyer and the dealer. LUSSO does not hold stock, take deposits or act as an intermediary in payment.

Can this Nissan 240Z be inspected before purchase?

The car is at London, United Kingdom, and an inspection is arranged with the selling dealer. Buyers based in another country commonly appoint an independent inspector or a marque specialist rather than travel. Ask the dealer for the service record, the number of previous owners and any accident history, with supporting documents for the information stated in the listing.

Is this Nissan 240Z still available?

LUSSO republishes what the selling dealer advertises, and a car in demand is sometimes reserved or sold before the dealer updates its own site. Confirm current availability with BOB FORSTNER before travelling or committing funds. An enquiry sent from this page reaches that dealer directly.

What is needed to register this car if it does not stay in the United Kingdom?

A cross-border registration normally requires the vehicle registration document, the certificate of conformity or an equivalent type-approval record, the purchase invoice showing the VAT treatment, and proof that any tax due in the destination country has been settled. Temporary export plates and transport insurance are arranged either by the dealer or by the buyer. Requirements differ by country and should be confirmed with the selling dealer before payment.

Where can I see the wider Nissan market?

LUSSO publishes a market overview for the 240Z, covering current asking prices in Europe, availability by country, why prices differ, how VAT works on a cross-border purchase and what to compare between two cars.
