Land Rover Series III 109 for Sale

The panels are aluminium because steel was rationed in post-war Britain and aircraft alloy was not, and the choice outlived the shortage: the metal does not rust, which is why so many of these survive. The 109 is the wheelbase in inches.

Land Rover built the Series III from 1971 to 1985 at Solihull, and it is the most numerous of the three series, with more than four hundred and forty thousand made. The Defender that followed kept its frame and its shape.
