About the Morris Mini

The S gained a strengthened bottom end for tuning and larger, servo-assisted front disc brakes. The Cooper had arrived in September 1961 as both an Austin and a Morris, and the S followed in 1963.

BMC built 4,030 Cooper S cars with the 1,071 cc engine before the range was revised in August 1964; the Mini Cooper won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967.
