The battery holds 100 kWh. Air suspension has been standard since the 90D, and the independent suspension has been retuned over the years. Up to seven people travel on three rows, the second and third reached through the two falcon-wing doors, whose second hinge above the window lets them open in a tight space.

Tesla builds the Model X at Fremont, in California, where the first car was delivered on 29 September 2015; the versions named from June 2021 are the Long Range and the Plaid.
