About the Ferrari F40

The panels are Kevlar, carbon fibre and aluminium, the windows polycarbonate, and the suspension a double wishbone layout taken from the 288 GTO and reworked. Pietro Camardella drew the car at Pininfarina under Aldo Brovarone, with Nicola Materazzi as chief engineer. Ferrari built 1,311 road cars between 1987 and 1992.

The F40 was built for Ferrari's fortieth anniversary and is the last car Enzo Ferrari personally approved. He died in 1988, a year after it was shown. Ferrari has built its cars at Maranello since 1943 and casts its own engines on site.
