1955 Porsche 356 for Sale in Germany

This Porsche 356 pre-A Speedster, built in February 1955 and fitted with the 1500 engine, is offered by Supercar Boutique in Munich, Germany. It was delivered new to the United States in Signal Red, and the dealer quotes 89,150 km.

The Speedster was built from 1954 for the American market at the suggestion of the importer Max Hoffman: a lighter, simpler open 356 with a low, raked windscreen and a minimal folding top. Its 1,488 cc air-cooled flat-four develops 55 PS (40 kW) and 106 Nm and drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox with Porsche synchromesh.

During a later restoration the body was repainted in the darker Polyantha red and the interior changed from Bast beige to black with red piping, under a black soft top. The engine, the gearbox and their related components are matching numbers, and the original 6-volt system, the headlight grilles, 15-inch wheels with chrome hub caps and Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres from 2019 are fitted.

The body is by Reutter, whose delivery certificate and colour sample card are available. The dealer describes a restoration of very high quality. No photograph of the car itself has been published yet: the dealer shows only its Supercar Boutique card.

FAQ

This Porsche 356 in the European market

Can this Porsche 356 be bought in Germany and registered elsewhere in Europe?

The car is located in Munich, Germany. The dealer offers it on request and says nothing about VAT. Cross-border purchase is normal for this kind of car, but the documentation, the certificate of conformity, transport and the registration rules of the destination country all have to be settled with the selling dealer first.

How does the mileage of this Porsche 356 compare?

89,150 km recorded, against a median of 25,975 km across the Porsche 356 advertised in Europe in 2026. It is therefore among the higher-mileage cars currently listed. Service records and ownership details should be checked against the documents held by the selling dealer.

Who is selling this Porsche 356, and how does a purchase work?

Supercar Group, Supercar Boutique, a professional dealer in Munich, Germany. LUSSO lists the car and passes enquiries to that dealer; the inspection, the negotiation, the invoice and the transfer of ownership all take place directly between the buyer and the dealer. LUSSO does not hold stock, take deposits or act as an intermediary in payment.

Can this Porsche 356 be inspected before purchase?

The car is at Munich, Germany, and an inspection is arranged with the selling dealer. Buyers based in another country commonly appoint an independent inspector or a marque specialist rather than travel. Ask the dealer for the service record, the number of previous owners and any accident history, with supporting documents for the information stated in the listing.

Is this Porsche 356 still available?

LUSSO republishes what the selling dealer advertises, and a car in demand is sometimes reserved or sold before the dealer updates its own site. Confirm current availability with Supercar Group, Supercar Boutique before travelling or committing funds. An enquiry sent from this page reaches that dealer directly.

What is needed to register this car if it does not stay in Germany?

A cross-border registration normally requires the vehicle registration document, the certificate of conformity or an equivalent type-approval record, the purchase invoice showing the VAT treatment, and proof that any tax due in the destination country has been settled. Temporary export plates and transport insurance are arranged either by the dealer or by the buyer. Requirements differ by country and should be confirmed with the selling dealer before payment.

Where can I see the wider Porsche 356 market?

LUSSO publishes a market overview for the 356, covering current asking prices in Europe, availability by country, why prices differ, how VAT works on a cross-border purchase and what to compare between two cars.
