2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series for Sale in United Kingdom

An SLS AMG Black Series of 2014, one of 350 built.

The Black Series is the SLS taken apart and put back tighter: the 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 raised to 631 hp with a 8,000 rpm limit, 70 kg saved, a carbon torque tube, wider tracks and a fixed rear wing. AMG built 350.

It is the last AMG with the big naturally aspirated M159 V8 and gullwing doors. DK Engineering sells it from Chorleywood.

The Mercedes SLS was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, marking the return of a Gullwing Mercedes once again. Heavily influenced by the original 300SL Gullwing the SLS’s styling captured the long stretching bonnet and rear-set cabin to create a similar but adapted shape for Mercedes 21st century supercar.

Developed entirely in house, this was the first time AMG had been given a clean sheet to build a road car from the ground up, and one with the billing that would make it something altogether more serious than a comfortable Mercedes. The 6.2 Litre V8 which was designed specifically for Mercedes AMG models, produces a staggering 563 hp at 6,800 rpm, with 650 Nm of torque at 4,750 rpm.

Introduced at the 2012 La Autoshow, the SLS Black series took inspiration from the SLS GT3 car top create an all together far more aggressive offering than the earlier model derivatives. Mechanical changes were significant with revised and upgraded high-speed valvetrain, camshafts, cam geometry and DLC (diamond-like-coating) finished tappets. Many of these features had, until this point, been strictly reserved for AMG's motorsport products. Changes to bodywork also allowed AMG to implement revised air intakes, allowing the naturally aspirated V8 to breath better. The results were a peak power output of 622hp at 7,500 rpm and 468lb ft of torque at 5,500rpm. At the time of its introduction, this made the SLS Black Series the most powerful naturally aspirated production car. The quoted 0-60mph dash also saw a reduction to 3.2 seconds, impressive for any rear wheel drive supercar. A 70kg weight reduction versus a standard SLS also resulted in much increased athleticism when combined with the standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

This 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series is a used car.

FAQ

This Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series in the European market

Can this Mercedes-Benz be bought in the United Kingdom and registered elsewhere in Europe?

The car is located in Chorleywood, United Kingdom. The dealer has not stated whether the price is quoted gross, net of VAT for export, or under the margin scheme. Cross-border purchase is normal for this kind of car, but the documentation, the certificate of conformity, transport and the registration rules of the destination country all have to be settled with the selling dealer first.

Who is selling this Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, and how does a purchase work?

DK Engineering, a professional dealer in Chorleywood, United Kingdom. LUSSO lists the car and passes enquiries to that dealer; the inspection, the negotiation, the invoice and the transfer of ownership all take place directly between the buyer and the dealer. LUSSO does not hold stock, take deposits or act as an intermediary in payment.

Can this Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG be inspected before purchase?

The car is at Chorleywood, United Kingdom, and an inspection is arranged with the selling dealer. Buyers based in another country commonly appoint an independent inspector or a marque specialist rather than travel. Ask the dealer for the service record, the number of previous owners and any accident history: LUSSO does not publish these and cannot confirm them.

Is this Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG still available?

LUSSO republishes what the selling dealer advertises, and a car in demand is sometimes reserved or sold before the dealer updates its own site. Confirm current availability with DK Engineering before travelling or committing funds. An enquiry sent from this page reaches that dealer directly.

What is needed to register this car if it does not stay in the United Kingdom?

A cross-border registration normally requires the vehicle registration document, the certificate of conformity or an equivalent type-approval record, the purchase invoice showing the VAT treatment, and proof that any tax due in the destination country has been settled. Temporary export plates and transport insurance are arranged either by the dealer or by the buyer. Requirements differ by country and should be confirmed with the selling dealer before payment.

Where can I see the wider Mercedes-Benz market?

LUSSO publishes a market overview for the SLS AMG, covering current asking prices in Europe, availability by country, why prices differ, how VAT works on a cross-border purchase and what to compare between two cars.
