The FF was the first four-wheel-drive Ferrari, and it got there in a way nobody has copied since: instead of a transfer case, a second compact gearbox sits on the front of the engine and drives the front wheels only in the lower gears, which keeps the weight down and leaves the car rear-driven when it matters.
