The 508 Balilla was unveiled at the Milan motor show on 12 April 1932 and built at Lingotto until 1937, about 113,000 cars, with drum brakes on all four wheels. The 1934 update, the 508 B, brought a rounder saloon body with two or four doors.
It replaced the Fiat 509 and was also assembled under licence by NSU in Germany, Simca in France, PZInż in Poland and Walter in Czechoslovakia; the 1100 Balilla, or 508 C, followed it in 1937.
The available examples are all from the 1937 model year.
