1965 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Cabriolet for Sale in the United Kingdom

This 1965 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Cabriolet is a used car. It is powered by a petrol engine rated at 198 PS (146 kW). It is equipped with an automatic transmission. The car is finished in Blue metallic with a Beige interior.

Nicknamed Herman, this W112 cabriolet was completed on 12 November 1965 with right-hand drive, red paint, factory air conditioning (now removed and stored) and the engine it still carries. Its first keeper, a British officer stationed in Germany, brought it to Britain in September 1967; the next, from November 1969, had it painted blue and kept it for four decades, the last twenty-one years unused. A third owner, from 2009, kept it off the road too.

Recommissioned in 2012, on its original wheels, it then toured both Americas and East Asia. A body-off restoration lasting two and a half years began in 2014, covering the shell, engine and running gear, seats, hood, chrome and woodwork. In 2017 a British gearbox specialist installed a modernised four-speed automatic.

The car is located in London, United Kingdom.

FAQ

This Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Cabriolet in the European market

Can this Mercedes-Benz be bought in the United Kingdom and registered elsewhere in Europe?

The car is located in London, United Kingdom. The dealer has not stated whether the price is quoted gross, net of VAT for export, or under the margin scheme. Cross-border purchase is normal for this kind of car, but the documentation, the certificate of conformity, transport and the registration rules of the destination country all have to be settled with the selling dealer first.

Who is selling this Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Cabriolet, and how does a purchase work?

BOB FORSTNER, a professional dealer in London, United Kingdom. LUSSO lists the car and passes enquiries to that dealer; the inspection, the negotiation, the invoice and the transfer of ownership all take place directly between the buyer and the dealer. LUSSO does not hold stock, take deposits or act as an intermediary in payment.

Can this Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Cabriolet be inspected before purchase?

The car is at London, United Kingdom, and an inspection is arranged with the selling dealer. Buyers based in another country commonly appoint an independent inspector or a marque specialist rather than travel. Ask the dealer for the service record, the number of previous owners and any accident history, with supporting documents for the information stated in the listing.

Is this Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Cabriolet still available?

LUSSO republishes what the selling dealer advertises, and a car in demand is sometimes reserved or sold before the dealer updates its own site. Confirm current availability with BOB FORSTNER before travelling or committing funds. An enquiry sent from this page reaches that dealer directly.

What is needed to register this car if it does not stay in the United Kingdom?

A cross-border registration normally requires the vehicle registration document, the certificate of conformity or an equivalent type-approval record, the purchase invoice showing the VAT treatment, and proof that any tax due in the destination country has been settled. Temporary export plates and transport insurance are arranged either by the dealer or by the buyer. Requirements differ by country and should be confirmed with the selling dealer before payment.

Where can I see the wider Mercedes-Benz market?

LUSSO publishes a market overview for the 300 SE Cabriolet, covering current asking prices in Europe, availability by country, why prices differ, how VAT works on a cross-border purchase and what to compare between two cars.
