The Ace sits on John Tojeiro's light ladder frame of steel tubes, with independent suspension by transverse leaf springs front and rear and a hand-formed aluminium body. Front disc brakes were optional from 1957 and standard for 1958. At Le Mans in 1957, Ken Rudd and Peter Bolton brought an Ace Bristol home tenth overall and second in the two-litre class.
AC Cars offered the Bristol engine in the Ace from 1956 to the end of production, and built 466 Ace Bristols at Thames Ditton.
