The coupé body is built by hand on a frame of ash and steel tubing, panelled in aluminium over the Ace's tubular ladder chassis with transverse leaf springs front and rear. It weighs about 962 kg, and its rear hatch made it only the second hatchback after the Aston Martin DB2/4. Front disc brakes became optional in 1957 and standard from 1958.
AC Cars built the Aceca from 1954 to 1963: 151 with the AC engine, 169 Aceca-Bristols and 8 Aceca 2.6s with a Ford unit.
The available examples are all from the 1963 model year.
