The fully variable 4MATIC+ system has a Drift mode that disconnects the front axle and sends all the power to the rear wheels. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h, or 300 km/h with the AMG Driver's Package.

Mercedes-AMG launched the E 63 S in March 2017 and built it at Sindelfingen until August 2023. With no V8 planned for the next E-Class, the Final Edition of 2022, limited to 999 cars, closed the eight-cylinder line.
