The body makes half as much downforce again as the 458 while cutting drag, with a front double splitter, underbody vortex generators and a blown rear diffuser whose active flaps are managed by a microprocessor. The scalloped side intakes nod to the 308 GTB and are split in two, the upper half feeding the turbocharger and the lower half the intercoolers, while the shark-fin door handles funnel air into them.

Ferrari built the 488 at Maranello from 2015 to 2020, naming it for the 488 cc of each cylinder. It was Top Gear's Supercar of the Year in 2015 and Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car in 2017, and the GTB came six months before the Spider.
