The 4,497 cm³ naturally aspirated V8 is quoted by the dealer at 605 PS, 445 kW, driving the rear wheels through an automatic gearbox. The Speciale is the hard version of the 458, and its engine held the highest specific output of any naturally aspirated road V8 when it was launched, revving to 9,000 rpm. It was also the first Ferrari with Side Slip Angle Control, the system that manages the car sideways rather than simply cutting it short, and it uses active aerodynamic flaps at the front.
