The two-seater Le Mans variants were prepared from the Mark II International in 1932, with open bodies built by E. Bertelli Ltd, the coachworks of Bert Bertelli's brother Harry. In 1932 and 1933 the works Le Mans cars won the 1.5-litre class and finished fifth overall, and Bertelli's own car took the Biennial Cup in 1932.
Aston Martin then built its cars at Feltham, Middlesex, where Bertelli was technical director and designer of every model from 1926 to 1937.
The available examples are all from the 1934 model year.
