A welded box-section steel chassis carries the body, which let coachbuilders fit their own; the III lost a little over 100 kg against the II and gained four headlamps. The Mulliner Park Ward coupés with slanted headlamps derive from the Park Ward design for the Bentley S Continentals, and about 100 of the 328 coachbuilt Silver Cloud IIIs had this style.
The Silver Cloud III was first shown at the Paris salon in October 1962 and built until 1966, alongside the Bentley S3.
