The seventh Phantom ran from 2003 to 2017 on a 6,749 cc V12 at 460 PS and 720 Nm, with a six-speed ZF automatic until 2012 and an eight-speed after. Its aluminium spaceframe is extruded in Norway, shaped in Denmark, hand-welded in Germany and assembled at Goodwood. The extended wheelbase, offered from 2005, adds 250 mm of rear legroom. The eighth Phantom followed on the Architecture of Luxury.
The Phantom of 2003 is the first Rolls-Royce developed under BMW, and the car that reopened the marque. Rolls-Royce has built its cars at Goodwood since that year, after BMW bought the right to the name and the badge in 1998.
