From 1950 the Manx used the Featherbed frame, with a telescopic fork, a twin-leading-shoe drum brake at the front and a drum at the rear. In 1953 the engine was redesigned with a shorter stroke to rev higher, the short-stroke unit that gives the later Manx its name among collectors.
Norton built the Manx, a racing machine sold to private riders, from 1947 to the early 1960s, in 350 cc (40M) and 500 cc (30M) versions.
The available examples are all from the 1953 model year.
