1954 MG TF for Sale in Germany

This 1954 MG TF is a used car. It is powered by a petrol engine rated at 58 PS (43 kW). It is equipped with a manual transmission. The car is finished in Black with a Red interior.

The TF was the last of MG's T-series roadsters, its shorter radiator, reshaped wings and headlamps set into them giving a sportier face than the TD it replaced. Most of the cars went to North America, and this 1954 example was one of them, sold new in the United States.

It has since come back to Europe, still with its original left-hand drive, and has been through a body-off restoration. The seller judges its condition excellent. It is finished in black with red leather, and wears the 1,250 cc XPAG engine of the early cars.

The car is located in Stuttgart, Germany.

The MG TF 1250 uses the 1,250 cc XPAG overhead-valve four-cylinder with twin carburettors, rated at 58 PS (43 kW), at 5,500 rpm, with a four-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. It kept the TD's independent coil-spring front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering, but brought headlamps faired into the wings, a sloping grille hiding a separate radiator and a pressurised cooling system. From late 1954 the TF 1500 with the 1,466 cc XPEG engine of 64 PS (47 kW) joined the range.

FAQ

This MG TF in the European market

Can this MG be bought in Germany and registered elsewhere in Europe?

The car is located in Stuttgart, Germany. The dealer has not stated whether the price is quoted gross, net of VAT for export, or under the margin scheme. Cross-border purchase is normal for this kind of car, but the documentation, the certificate of conformity, transport and the registration rules of the destination country all have to be settled with the selling dealer first.

Who is selling this MG TF, and how does a purchase work?

BOB FORSTNER, a professional dealer in Stuttgart, Germany. LUSSO lists the car and passes enquiries to that dealer; the inspection, the negotiation, the invoice and the transfer of ownership all take place directly between the buyer and the dealer. LUSSO does not hold stock, take deposits or act as an intermediary in payment.

Can this MG TF be inspected before purchase?

The car is at Stuttgart, Germany, and an inspection is arranged with the selling dealer. Buyers based in another country commonly appoint an independent inspector or a marque specialist rather than travel. Ask the dealer for the service record, the number of previous owners and any accident history, with supporting documents for the information stated in the listing.

Is this MG TF still available?

LUSSO republishes what the selling dealer advertises, and a car in demand is sometimes reserved or sold before the dealer updates its own site. Confirm current availability with BOB FORSTNER before travelling or committing funds. An enquiry sent from this page reaches that dealer directly.

What is needed to register this car if it does not stay in Germany?

A cross-border registration normally requires the vehicle registration document, the certificate of conformity or an equivalent type-approval record, the purchase invoice showing the VAT treatment, and proof that any tax due in the destination country has been settled. Temporary export plates and transport insurance are arranged either by the dealer or by the buyer. Requirements differ by country and should be confirmed with the selling dealer before payment.

Where can I see the wider MG market?

LUSSO publishes a market overview for the TF, covering current asking prices in Europe, availability by country, why prices differ, how VAT works on a cross-border purchase and what to compare between two cars.
