Overview about this 1961 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Roadster, flat floor for sale

An early flat-floor E-type, the 320th right-hand-drive open two-seater completed. It was finished at the factory on 15 December 1961 but not despatched until 7 March 1962, and it still carries the registration ‘494 YTB’ it was given then.

It was sent through Parker's of Bolton to the agents E. Rimmer of Chorley, where it lasted six days before selling to R. Burgess of Prestbury. The buff logbook that comes with the car shows it spent most of its early life in Cheshire, changing hands in 1965 and several times more up to 1970. An assessors' report from August 1984, prepared for a prospective buyer, records a little over 14,000 miles at that point and confirms the car was still in its original colours, which the MoT certificates on file corroborate.

It was originally Imperial Maroon over tan and was refinished in Opalescent Silver in 1992. It retains the four-speed Moss gearbox and shows 57,800 miles. Right-hand drive, manual, titled in the United Kingdom.

FAQ

This Jaguar E-Type in the European market

How this car sits against the other Jaguar E-Type advertised in Europe on 2026, and what to settle before a cross-border purchase.

Is this Jaguar E-Type priced above or below the European market?

At £124,995, about €146,243, it sits below the median of €183,940 for the 6 Jaguar E-Type advertised in Europe in 2026. 17% of them are advertised for less. Asking prices are not transaction prices, and specification differences explain much of the spread. See the listings

Can this Jaguar E-Type be bought in the United Kingdom and registered elsewhere in Europe?

The car is located in Chorleywood, United Kingdom. The dealer has not stated whether the price is quoted gross, net of VAT for export, or under the margin scheme. Cross-border purchase is normal for this kind of car, but the documentation, the certificate of conformity, transport and the registration rules of the destination country all have to be settled with the selling dealer first.

How does the mileage of this Jaguar E-Type compare?

93,020 km recorded, against a median of 53,712 km across the Jaguar E-Type advertised in Europe in 2026. It is therefore among the higher-mileage cars currently listed. Service history and previous owners are not published on LUSSO and should be confirmed with the selling dealer.

Which other Jaguar E-Type are priced closest to this one?

a 1966 car in the United Kingdom at €140,340, and a 1963 car in Germany at €174,890. Observed in 2026. Comparing them means putting model year, mileage, factory options and the VAT basis side by side before the price itself. See the listings

Who is selling this Jaguar E-Type, and how does a purchase work?

DK Engineering, a professional dealer in Chorleywood, United Kingdom. LUSSO lists the car and passes enquiries to that dealer; the inspection, the negotiation, the invoice and the transfer of ownership all take place directly between the buyer and the dealer. LUSSO does not hold stock, take deposits or act as an intermediary in payment.

Can this Jaguar E-Type be inspected before purchase?

The car is at Chorleywood, United Kingdom, and an inspection is arranged with the selling dealer. Buyers based in another country commonly appoint an independent inspector or a marque specialist rather than travel. Ask the dealer for the service record, the number of previous owners and any accident history: LUSSO does not publish these and cannot confirm them.

Is this Jaguar E-Type still available?

LUSSO republishes what the selling dealer advertises, and a car in demand is sometimes reserved or sold before the dealer updates its own site. Confirm current availability with DK Engineering before travelling or committing funds. An enquiry sent from this page reaches that dealer directly.
