It was the first production Jaguar with servo-assisted Dunlop disc brakes on all four wheels and power steering as standard. The Mark IX was popular as a state car, and the interior uses leather, burr walnut and deep-pile carpet.
Announced on 8 October 1958, it was built until 1961, 10,009 cars, when the Mark X replaced it.
