Jaguar XK140 for Sale

Chassis and running gear come largely unchanged from the XK120, with the upgrades of the XK140: rack and pinion steering, telescopic dampers in place of the older lever arms, more suspension travel and improved brakes. Cars with the C-Type head also received heavier torsion bars and twin exhaust pipes. The car is 4,470 mm long on a 2,591 mm wheelbase. Moving the engine, bulkhead and dashboard forward gave 76 mm more legroom. The open two-seater has a light canvas top that folds out of sight, removable side curtains and a leather-trimmed dash; the drophead coupé has a lined top, wind-up windows, a walnut-veneered dashboard and a small rear seat.

Jaguar built the XK140 in Coventry from late 1954 to 1957, between the XK120 and the XK150, and an emblem on its boot lid recalls the Le Mans wins of 1951 and 1953. In 1956 it became the first Jaguar sports car offered with an automatic transmission. The Jaguar Heritage Trust counts 8,937 cars, among them 3,349 open two-seaters and 2,790 drophead coupés.
