About the Mercedes-Benz V Class

Three generations: the W638 of 1996, front-wheel drive; the W639 of 2003, which turned to rear-wheel drive; and the W447 from 2014, which took over from the R-Class as the marque's full-size MPV. The V-Class and the Vito share a platform, the V-Class carrying seats and the Vito carrying goods. Engines run from 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbodiesels to 3.0-litre V6 diesels, with petrol fours and V6s beside them.

Production runs at Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain, with further plants in Mexico, China, the United States and India. The Marco Polo derivative, developed with Westfalia, adds a galley, a pop-up roof and sleeping space for four.
