Ferrari named the Dino for Alfredino Ferrari, Enzo's son, who worked on the dual overhead-camshaft V6 before he died at twenty-four. The 246 replaced the 206 in 1969 with a larger 2.4-litre V6, mounted across the car behind the cabin, close to 200 bhp and 148 mph, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed all-synchromesh manual gearbox. At about 1,080 kg it is one of the finest-handling Ferraris ever built, and one of the most beautiful.

This car was delivered in 1972 through Maranello Concessionaires to J. H. Barder of Woking, who kept it for eight years, and it passed through four further owners before joining a German collection in 2008 at 32,700 miles. Autohaus Aumüller rebuilt it in 2014: bare-metal respray, retrimmed interior, engine and gearbox rebuilt. Its history file holds the test certificates and servicing invoices from 1972 onwards.
