The 250 is named after the swept volume of one cylinder, 250 cubic centimetres, twelve of which make three litres: Ferrari named its cars that way until the nineteen-seventies. The chassis came in two wheelbases, 2,400 mm and 2,600 mm.
Ferrari built the 250 GT at Maranello from the mid-fifties to the early sixties and had the bodies made outside: Pinin Farina, Scaglietti, Vignale and Boano each dressed the same chassis differently, which is why two 250 GT of the same year can look nothing alike.
The available examples are all from the 1959 model year.
Across the listings in this selection, the Ferrari 250 GT is quoted at 220 to 240 hp depending on version, 2,953 cm³ and coupé. These are the figures dealers declare, not a reconstructed factory specification.
