About the Ferrari 166 MM

The Berlinetta Le Mans shares the barchetta's steel tube frame under an all-aluminium fastback body. A transverse leaf spring serves the independent front, leaf springs the live rear axle. The closed coupé body, slightly heavier than the barchetta, was meant for fast races such as Le Mans.

Ferrari built 47 166 MMs from 1948 to 1953; one won the 1949 Mille Miglia and Le Mans. Six Berlinetta Le Mans were built in 1950.
