The W 214 E-Class has four-link front suspension and a five-link rear axle on a subframe decoupled from the body. Rear-axle steering and air suspension are options, and the saloon has a drag coefficient of 0.23. The 25.4 kWh battery gives more than 100 km of electric range under WLTP, but it sits at the back and cuts the saloon's boot from 540 to 370 litres.
