The S 124 estate, presented at the 1985 Frankfurt motor show, has a multi-link rear axle with hydropneumatic self-levelling as standard, and it was the first Mercedes-Benz estate whose tailgate pulled itself shut electrically. The 124 was the first Mercedes-Benz range to carry the E-Class name, adopted with the second facelift in mid-1993, when the 320 TE became the E 320 T.
The E 320 T was built from 1993 to 1996. BRABUS, founded at Bottrop in 1977, specialises in modifying Mercedes-Benz cars; its B6 conversion is not covered here, so the figures given are those of the factory E 320 T.
The available examples are all from the 1994 model year.
