BMW X5 Protection for Sale

BMW builds the armour into the car on the production line rather than cutting a finished one open, and certifies it to VR6 level: the glass, the pillars, the floor and the bulkhead stop rifle fire, and the tyres run flat. The car weighs some 1,300 kilograms more than a standard X5, and its suspension, brakes and cooling are made for that.

BMW has built armoured cars since 1978 and makes the X5 Protection at Spartanburg with the rest of the model. An armoured car is not the vehicle it is based on: the weight, the glass and the running gear are all different, and no figure from the standard car applies to it.
