Its aluminium body sits on the box-section frame of the 502 saloon, with torsion bars all round, independent front suspension and a live rear axle. Cars built from March 1957 count as Series II, with the filler cap moved into the right rear wing and a new dashboard.
Albrecht Graf von Goertz drew the 507, shown at the Frankfurt motor show in 1955; BMW built 252 of them from November 1956 to 1959 and lost money on every one.
