About the BMW X5

Five generations: E53 from 1999, E70, F15, the G05 of 2018 and the G65 that follows it. BMW calls the X5 a Sports Activity Vehicle rather than an SUV, a distinction it makes about on-road handling. Engines run from straight sixes to petrol V8s, turbodiesels and plug-in hybrids, with the X5 M and its turbocharged V8 arriving in 2009.

The X5 is built at BMW's Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, with assembly also in Russia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, and armoured versions in Mexico. BMW has built cars at Munich since 1928.
