About the Mercedes-Benz 300 SC

With the 300 saloon, the W 188 was the last Mercedes-Benz passenger car built on a separate frame. Its wheelbase of 2,900 mm is 15 cm shorter than the saloon's, the 300 Sc gained a single-joint swing axle at the rear, and the coupé is 4,700 mm long and weighs 1,780 kg. The Sc of 1955 brought chromed wheels, more chrome trim and, on the rear bumper, the word Einspritzmotor in large letters.

Shown at the Paris Salon in October 1951, the W 188 was the most expensive car in the Mercedes-Benz range throughout its life and, with 760 built, is rarer than the 300 SL. The 300 Sc coupé was built from September 1955 to April 1958 in 98 examples, beside 49 Cabriolet A and 53 roadsters.
