From 2020 the battery grew to 12.0 kWh, 10.8 kWh of it usable. The G30 generation weighs up to 100 kg less than the car it replaced, thanks to aluminium and high-strength steel.
BMW presented the G30 saloon on 13 October 2016 and the G31 Touring in February 2017, and built both at Dingolfing and at Magna Steyr in Graz until 2024. The revised version was shown on 27 May 2020.
