About the Porsche 908

The frame is aluminium tube, and Porsche filled it with pressurised air and fitted a gauge: if the needle fell, a tube had cracked somewhere the eye could not see. The 908/03 weighs about 500 kg, built for the Targa Florio and the Nürburgring rather than for Le Mans.

The 908/02 took the International Championship for Makes in 1969, winning at Brands Hatch, Monza, the Targa Florio, Spa and the Nürburgring, and the 908/03 that followed won the Targa Florio and the Nürburgring again in 1970 and 1971.
