Chassis 0871 GT was the forty-fifth of the fifty coupés bodied by Carrozzeria Ellena, finished in May 1958 with the taller roof and the absent front quarter lights of the later cars. It crossed the Atlantic new and was sold through Luigi Chinetti Motors in Greenwich, and the Certificate of Origin bearing Enzo Ferrari's signature is still with it. Its chassis, body, engine and gearbox match, and one collector has kept it for over twenty-five years, shown in Silver Blue and Dark Blue with blue leather.

Carrozzeria Ellena built fifty 250 GT coupés, and this is the forty-fifth of them. The series began at Carrozzeria Boano; when its founder left for Fiat in 1957 his partners Luciano Pollo and Ezio Ellena renamed the firm and carried on, raising the roofline by two inches for headroom and deleting the front quarter lights.
