03 · Dealer profile
Joe Macari sells and services collector and performance cars from 249-251 Merton Road in Wandsworth, south-west London. The business grew out of its founder's own racing: he has competed in FIA GT1 and at the Le Mans 24 Hours, and he built the sales, servicing and repair operations around that over some thirty years, moving them to London in 1998.
The current showroom opened in 2014 and was built to hold more than sixty cars. It doubles as an event space for up to 750 people, which is unusual for a dealer and tells you what kind of room it is: a hall rather than a forecourt. In 2007 the servicing arm was granted an official Ferrari and Maserati franchise for a purpose-built service centre, and the group also runs a Ferrari Classiche certification business alongside its racing and accident management companies.
The stock listed on LUSSO is small and deliberately so. It runs from a 1965 Ferrari 275 GTS and a 250 GT Lusso through a Jaguar C-Type, a D-Type continuation and two very different E-Types, to a Shelby Cobra 289, a Ford GT Mk IV and a McLaren MP4/15A Formula One car. Ferrari is the largest single marque, and the newest cars in the room are a 488 GTB, a GTC4 Lusso and an Aston Martin DB11.
Prices are published in pound sterling, and a substantial part of this stock is offered on request rather than at a stated figure, which is normal at this end of the classic market. Each listing says which.
